Pete’s beneficiary

The charity that Pete has selected as beneficiary of his race is the East London branch of Carel Du Toit Centre, where deaf kids learn to speak. This is what Pete had to say about why he chose this organisation:

‘A lot of kids in the rural Transkei are not diagnosed as deaf until it’s too late and are treated like outcasts because it is not understood why they cannot speak. The money raised is to be used for treatment such as life-changing cochlear implants.’

How can you help? Well, there are THREE options - and it’s not as if you’ll just be getting a good feeling in exchange your donation.

Option one:

To help keep you in the loop, perhaps when you’re away on your hols, the school is offering two sms packages:

For only R50 you’ll receive an update sms every two days or you can buy a daily sms update for R100.

Each sms will include information such as how far Pete has rowed, weather conditions, position etc.
The school is also offering advertising headers to businesses or individuals for R500 per day (update smses included).

To subscribe, it’s this easy:

1. Deposit your payment into the school’s account:
Nedbank Vincent Park
Branch Code: 1206-621
Account No: 1206028726

2. Use your cellphone number as a reference or call 072 753 0900.

You’ll start receiving smses in the first week of the race. Simone is your contact if you have any difficulties with the sms offering.
